“科研选题与文献综述” 工作坊大纲及日程
(Selecting Research Topics and Writing Literature Review)

Aims and Requirements [工作坊介绍及要求]
This two-day workshop will survey select ‘hot’ topics for research in applied linguistics and attempt to cover some essential aspects of writing good literature review to justify our research. It will start with some basic principles in selecting topics for research and then illustrate the selection process with specific examples. It will also provide some guiding principles in conducting solid literature review to build a strong case for our research, including qualitative, quantitative and mixed method studies. The participants will be invited to analyse literature review samples taken from studies using particular methodological approaches and encouraged to write one for their own research projects. The workshop will have an opportunity to share experiences of writing extended reviews articles with each other.
[本工作坊旨在简介应用语言学科研选题的方法与并就当前的选题热点进行分析。工作坊将会涉及如何撰写令人信服的文献综述来支持我们的研究、介绍科研选题的基本原则,并用实例来演示这些原则如何运用到实际的科研选题。工作坊还将介绍文献综述撰写的原则, 并就不同研究设计的研究提供不同的文献研究写作的建议。工作坊参与者将被邀请分析不同类型的文献综述,并就自己选择的题目尝试做简单的文献综述写作。工作坊中还将有机会分享大家撰写文献综述文章的经验和体会。]

Required Pre-session Task: Write and submit a literature review on your chosen topic (not longer than 1,000 words). Please send your work to xxx before June 6th, 2015.
In-session activities: The participants are expected to share and reflect on their own experiences. They are expected to actively participate in discussion and other hands-on activities.
